Energy Saving Mineral Insulated Electric Cable Heat Trace

Energy Saving Mineral Insulated Electric Cable Heat Trace is a better heat trace solution against conventional steam or hot water heat trace. It performs the advantages as below:

A. The heat consumption of the heat tracing pipeline is related to the heat dissipation area. The electric heat tracing products generally have a small external size. When laying, the pipe diameter of the steam or hot water tracing pipe is between φ12 and φ50 which is greatly larger.

B. There is only line contact between steam or hot water tracing tube and process pipeline, and the heat transfer efficiency is generally 40% ~ 60%; the electric heat tracing product is flat, with the help of aluminum tape can form a wide heat exchange surface, its heat exchange rate up to 90% ~ 96%.

C. When steam or hot water is used for heating, in order to ensure the temperature at the far point of the pipeline, and to consider the heat loss and leakage along the way, superheat compensation must be made at the near point; while electric heating does not need superheat compensation, because its heat release is uniform throughout the line length direction.

D. The loss of heat transfer in steam and hot water is much greater than that in electricity transfer. When the heating tube is far away from the heat source, a lot of losses along the line, and the power transmission loss is less.

E. An ideal heat tracing line requires a year-round heat tracing or even a day-night heat tracing that varies with temperature.Electric tracing can achieve the required amount of heat by strictly tracking the temperature through the temperature control system, while steam or hot water is extremely difficult to ensure.

Therefore, some process pipelines that require more stringent temperature control by electric tracing can not only save energy, but also ensure process requirements.

Application

Copper sheathed heating cable (MICU) Maximum output power(W/m)
Freezing Prevention for metal gutters and downpipes 49
Freezing Prevention for non-metal gutters and downpipes 16
Vessel and piping process temperature maintaining 59
Freezing Prevention for metal containers and pipes 59
Metal roof snow-melting 49
High-density polyethylene outer sheathed copper sheathed heating cable (MIHC)
Freezing Prevention for metal containers and pipes 26
Freezing Prevention non-metallic containers and pipes 13
Snow melting on asphalt slopes 82
Non-metallic roof ice or snow melting 26
Freezing Prevention for metal gutters and downpipes 26
Freezing Prevention for non - metallic gutters and downpipes 16
Concrete floor heating 33
Rising or defrosting prevention for cold storage ground 23
Freezing Prevention for metal containers and pipes 99

Note: when heating cables are used for heat tracing of vessels and pipes, the maximum output power must be controlled to ensure that the sheath temperature does not exceed its maximum allowable temperature or the spontaneous combustion temperature of the area (for hazardous areas).
