Magnesium Oxide Mineral Insulated High Strength Cable Heating Element possesses good propertes of high strength on the cable itself compared to other coventional heating cables. Adopting high strength metal tube as sheath, a compact body is formed with conductor and mineral insulating powder during special processing. It has strong structure, high mechanical strength, and is resistant to mechanical extrusion and bending.

It is to be designed based on selection of mineral insulated heating cable which is prefabricated in the manufacturer's workshop into a heating element that can be directly connected to the power supply. It is usually composed of heating cables, cold and hot joints, cold end cables, terminals, tail ends and lead wires, etc. There are the following types can be selected from including type A, Type B, Type C, Type D, Type E, Type F and Type G structures. Among them, Type A, B and C are only suitable for single-core heating cable, while type D, E, F and G are only suitable for double-core heating cable.

It can be widely used on heating or heat tracing of process conveying pipes and accessories, pumps, reactor, cracking furnace, carburetor, flash evaporator, storage tank, storage tank, other devices and vessels etc.

Common structure of the heating cable for the heating element is of single core and two core, while the customization can be according to clients’ needs to design and provide MI heating cable of three core or more.

Advantages:

  1. High mechanical strength

Adopting high strength metal tube as sheath, a compact body is formed with conductor and mineral insulating powder during special processing. It has strong structure, high mechanical strength, and is resistant to mechanical extrusion and bending.

  1. Stable physical and chemical properties

It is composed of inorganic materials and metal with good thermal stability, which is very stable in mechanical, physical and chemical properties such as structure, electrical conductivity, dielectric strength and chemical components when used at rated temperature and set environment.

  1. Small temperature difference between inside and outside

The thermal resistance coefficient of magnesium oxide insulation is 3-5 times smaller than that of most organic insulating materials. The lower thermal resistance enables the rapider transfer of heat from the inner conductor to the metal jacket, so that the temperature difference between the conductor and the jacket surface is less, allowing for a greater current density.

  1. High efficiency of electrothermal conversion

Using the principle of the thermal effect of current (Joule-Lenz law), the pure resistance heats up, converting almost 100% electric energy into heat energy.

  1. Convenient electrical control

The working voltage is with power frequency 50-60Hz, and ON/OFF or PID temperature control is selected according to actual needs. The technology is mature, the operation is reliable, and the maintenance is limited.

  1. Corrosion resistant

According to use environment temperature and corrosive medium, the appropriate metal sheath material can be chosen, the best corrosion resistance can be achieved.

  1. Resistance to radiation

The inorganic materials used have good radiation resistance. Literature shows that when the cable is operated at 200℃ to 700℃ and the neutron flux is 1021 neutron /cm2, its technical performance does not change, and it can be applied to the core radiation area of nuclear power plants.

  1. Explosion-proof certificate

Note: when heating cables are used for heat tracing of vessels and pipes, the maximum output power must be controlled to ensure that the sheath temperature does not exceed its maximum allowable temperature or the spontaneous combustion temperature of the area (for hazardous areas).
